L'eclettismo di Alex Savelli si rinnova con un'opera che sfugge a ogni definizione rigida: Psychowatermelon. Dopo aver attraversato il jazz sperimentale con Massimo Manzi, il rock dei Nostress e l'ampia collaborazione di Italian Kidd, Savelli torna con un progetto plasmato insieme a Tommaso Michienzi, compagno di viaggio musicale di lunga data. I due musicisti sono le menti dietro "Ghostpiracy", un album che sintetizza le loro esperienze e passioni.
Savelli è un chitarrista e cantante, noto per la sua versatilità e il suo approccio trasversale ai generi musicali. Michienzi, invece, è un esploratore del suono elettronico, capace di creare scenari sonori con sintetizzatori, theremin e altre macchine sonore.
Il loro legame nasce nel 2005, durante le session con i Pelican Milk e Ares Tavolazzi per la colonna sonora di "Ultima cena tra le nuvole". L'affinità artistica li ha portati a collaborare in vari progetti, tra composizioni per il cinema e dischi dall'approccio libero. Da questo percorso nasce Psychowatermelon, che trova piena espressione nel debutto "Ghostpiracy".
L'album è un'incursione tra sonorità lisergiche, strutture irregolari e sperimentazioni elettroniche, intrecciando suggestioni anni '60 e '70 con un'attitudine contemporanea. Savelli scolpisce paesaggi sonori con chitarre e voci, mentre Michienzi disegna atmosfere grazie a sintetizzatori, theremin e macchine sonore. A completare il quadro è il giovane batterista Andrea Lamb D'Aniello, il cui apporto ritmico ha trasformato radicalmente le idee iniziali, dando al disco un'energia organica e imprevedibile.
Ghostpiracy è un meraviglioso viaggio musicale che unisce radici primordiali con visioni futuristiche. Ogni brano sembra raccontare un sogno, con strumenti che prendono vita e creano atmosfere uniche. Le chitarre leggere si mescolano ai sintetizzatori dal suono vintage, mentre il kraut rock si fa sentire in ritmi avvolgenti. Le percussioni non seguono schemi rigidi ma si muovono liberamente, dando forma a paesaggi sonori in cui la realtà si confonde con l’immaginazione.
"Survivor Tales" apre il lavoro con un'introduzione rarefatta, costruita su echi lontani e suoni dilatati che preparano all'immersione nell'universo del disco. "Barbarian Dreams" alterna passaggi evocativi e tensione crescente, aprendo squarci improvvisi tra melodia e sperimentazione, con chitarre che si inseguono in trame cangianti. "Ghostpiracy" avvolge l'ascoltatore in un labirinto sonoro dove pulsazioni elettroniche e distorsioni si fondono in modo inaspettato, evocando reminiscenze space rock. "Meanwhile" introduce una dinamica più serrata, dove il rock si insinua in un gioco di stratificazioni sonore mai scontate.
"Monkey Business Culture Club" gioca con ritmiche incalzanti e un'atmosfera surreale, quasi cinematografica, creando un viaggio sonoro che sembra mutare forma in ogni istante. "Vintage Future" rappresenta al meglio il contrasto suggerito dal suo titolo, unendo sonorità elettroniche attuali a un gusto rétro. "Primal Chase" accelera il ritmo e punta sulla ripetizione ipnotica, mentre "Lazy Blades And The Gummy Forest" bilancia ricerca sonora e melodia, offrendo un equilibrio tra sperimentazione e ascoltabilità.
"Aliens On Piano", con la performance vocale di Luca Fattori, crea un cortocircuito tra sperimentazione e ironia, dando voce a un'entità extraterrestre che scopre il pianoforte e ne fa uno strumento espressivo alieno e imprevedibile. I mixaggi sono stati seguiti direttamente dal duo, così come la scelta accurata dei titoli, pensati per evocare immagini e suggestioni.
"Ghostpiracy" è un'opera che rifugge le categorizzazioni, spingendo l'ascoltatore a esplorare territori sonori imprevedibili.
Con "Ghostpiracy", Psychowatermelon ridefinisce le possibilità del rock sperimentale, spaziando tra elettronica, psichedelia e improvvisazione. Un disco che non si limita a essere ascoltato, ma invita a essere vissuto, tra sorprese e continue metamorfosi.

After venturing into experimental jazz with Massimo Manzi, rock with Nostress, and the broad collaboration of Italian Kidd, Savelli returns with a project shaped alongside longtime musical partner Tommaso Michienzi. The two musicians are the minds behind Ghostpiracy, an album that synthesizes their experiences and passions.
Savelli is a guitarist and singer, known for his versatility and cross-genre approach. Michienzi, on the other hand, is an explorer of electronic sound, capable of crafting sonic landscapes with synthesizers, theremin, and other sound machines.
Their collaboration dates back to 2005, during sessions with Pelican Milk and Ares Tavolazzi for the soundtrack of Ultima cena tra le nuvole. Their artistic affinity led them to collaborate on various projects, ranging from film compositions to albums with a freeform approach. From this journey, Psychowatermelon was born, fully expressed in their debut Ghostpiracy.

"Vintage Future" best represents the contrast suggested by its title, combining modern electronic sounds with a retro aesthetic. "Aliens On Piano," featuring Luca Fattori's vocal performance, creates a short-circuit between experimentation and irony, giving voice to an extraterrestrial entity that discovers the piano and turns it into an alien and unpredictable expressive instrument. The mixing was handled directly by the duo, as was the careful selection of track titles, designed to evoke images and impressions.
