Ci sono momenti in cui il caos del mondo sembra sopraffarci, quando le notizie che scorrono davanti agli occhi appesantiscono l’anima. In questi frangenti, sento il bisogno di staccare, di ritagliarmi uno spazio tutto mio, lontano dal frastuono e dalle brutture che ci circondano. In questi giorni, ho trovato conforto e ispirazione rifugiandomi nella musica, e in particolare tra le note di Respiro, il nuovo album di Joe Pisto e Fausto Beccalossi.
Questo disco è stato per me un porto sicuro, un luogo dove lasciarmi trasportare dalla bellezza e dalla profondità di un dialogo musicale che sembra fatto apposta per accarezzare lo spirito. Ogni traccia è una piccola oasi di pace, una finestra aperta su paesaggi sonori capaci di lenire le tensioni e riportare alla luce emozioni autentiche. È un’esperienza che ti permette di respirare, di riconnetterti con ciò che davvero conta. Ecco perché voglio condividere questa scoperta con voi.
Ma vediamo di conoscere meglio i due artisti:
Joe Pisto, chitarrista, cantante e compositore lucano, è un artista versatile e di grande talento, capace di combinare intensità interpretativa, raffinatezza e una musicalità autentica. Dopo essersi diplomato in chitarra classica al Conservatorio di Matera e aver collaborato con maestri di fama internazionale, si è dedicato al jazz, perfezionandosi in canto jazz al Conservatorio di Bologna. Vincitore di importanti concorsi, tra cui quello per solisti jazz a Monaco nel 2008, ha collaborato con numerosi artisti di spicco del panorama jazz, soul e pop, come Paolo Fresu, Eumir Deodato, Fabrizio Bosso e Bono degli U2. Attualmente insegna canto jazz al Conservatorio di Bologna.
Fausto Beccalossi è uno dei fisarmonicisti italiani più rinomati, apprezzato anche a livello internazionale per il suo stile ricco di lirismo e forza narrativa. Dopo aver iniziato giovanissimo lo studio della fisarmonica cromatica al Conservatorio di Brescia, si è avvicinato al jazz, affinando le sue doti improvvisative. Notato da Enrico Rava a Siena Jazz nel 1994, ha collaborato con Gianluigi Trovesi e altri grandi artisti come Kenny Wheeler, Paolo Fresu, Richard Bona e Al Di Meola. Per oltre dieci anni è stato un membro chiave del quintetto World Symphony, distinguendosi in progetti prestigiosi come Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody, registrato con jazzisti leggendari come Charlie Haden e Peter Erskine, e portato in tour nei più importanti festival internazionali.
Respiro è il secondo album realizzato insieme da Joe Pisto (chitarra e voce) e Fausto Beccalossi (fisarmonica e voce). Il loro primo lavoro, Interplay, pubblicato nel 2018, ha segnato l’inizio della loro collaborazione, mettendo in luce la loro capacità di mescolare jazz, world music e improvvisazione con grande sensibilità. Con Respiro, il duo ha portato questa alchimia artistica a un livello superiore, creando un’opera che riflette una maturità e una profondità ancora maggiori.
Con questo nuovo lavoro, i due artisti hanno ulteriormente sviluppato il loro linguaggio musicale, creando un’opera più matura e consapevole, dove le influenze sonore si intrecciano in maniera fluida e naturale. Questo disco segna un nuovo capitolo nella loro collaborazione, consolidando il duo come una delle realtà più interessanti della scena musicale contemporanea.
Il disco si articola in 8 brani, tutti firmati da Joe Pisto, per una durata complessiva di poco meno di 40 minuti. Fin dal primo ascolto, sarete avvolti da una qualità artistica straordinaria e da una dolcezza capace di toccare profondamente il cuore, regalando emozioni intense a chiunque sappia lasciarsi trasportare.
Tra i brani che mi hanno colpito di più, voglio citare “Valse pour l’amour perdu”, che apre l'album con un'atmosfera nostalgica e sognante. La melodia scorre dolcemente, come una danza solitaria, mentre la fisarmonica di Beccalossi e la chitarra di Pisto si intrecciano, creando un gioco di emozioni. La sensazione di perdita è forte, ma la musica riesce a trasformarla in qualcosa di bello e profondo.
Un altro brano che voglio segnalarvi è la title track Respiro. La traccia ha un'atmosfera calma e riflessiva, con una melodia delicata che cresce lentamente. La voce di Joe Pisto si unisce alla fisarmonica di Beccalossi e alla chitarra, creando un senso di sospensione, come se il tempo si fermasse. La musica ti invita a rilassarti, respirare lentamente e lasciarti trasportare dalle emozioni.
Paris ha un ritmo più vivace e richiama l'immagine di una città piena di energia e vita. La melodia diventa più leggera e brillante, come se descrivesse una passeggiata serale a Parigi. La fisarmonica suona in modo più giocoso, mentre la chitarra aggiunge piccoli cambiamenti nel ritmo, dando un tocco di leggerezza e allegria.
Concludo questa breve analisi su questo meraviglioso disco parlando di Andalusia, il brano che più di tutti mi è rimasto nel cuore e nell’anima. Qui, la fusione di influenze mediterranee e spagnoleggianti è al centro della composizione. Il ritmo diventa più deciso e la fisarmonica, insieme alla voce di Beccalossi, disegna melodie avvolgenti che evocano immagini di paesaggi caldi e soleggiati tipici dell’Andalusia. La traccia è un omaggio sonoro alla passione e all’energia di questa regione, mantenendo sempre un’eleganza che non rinuncia mai alla sua vitalità.
In conclusione, Respiro è un progetto che trasuda qualità e raffinatezza in ogni sua nota. Ogni brano riesce a trasportare l'ascoltatore in un viaggio emozionale, esplorando paesaggi sonori che vanno dalla nostalgia alla vitalità, dalla calma alla passione. In these times, I feel the need to disconnect, to carve out a space just for myself, away from the noise and the ugliness that surround us. These days, I found comfort and inspiration by immersing myself in music, particularly in the notes of Respiro, the new album by Joe Pisto and Fausto Beccalossi.
This album has been a safe harbor for me, a place where I can be carried away by the beauty and depth of a musical dialogue that feels designed to soothe the spirit. Each track is a small oasis of peace, a window open to soundscapes that can ease tensions and bring authentic emotions to the surface. It’s an experience that allows you to breathe, to reconnect with what really matters. That’s why I want to share this discovery with you.

Joe Pisto, a guitarist, singer, and composer from Lucania, is a versatile and highly talented artist, able to combine interpretative intensity, refinement, and authentic musicality. After graduating in classical guitar at the Conservatory of Matera and collaborating with internationally renowned masters, he turned to jazz, perfecting his jazz singing at the Conservatory of Bologna. A winner of important competitions, including the 2008 jazz soloist contest in Monaco, he has collaborated with many prominent artists in jazz, soul, and pop, such as Paolo Fresu, Eumir Deodato, Fabrizio Bosso, and Bono from U2. He currently teaches jazz singing at the Conservatory of Bologna.
Fausto Beccalossi is one of Italy's most renowned accordionists, also appreciated internationally for his lyrical and narrative style. After beginning his studies in chromatic accordion at the Conservatory of Brescia at a young age, he delved into jazz, honing his improvisational skills. Noticed by Enrico Rava at Siena Jazz in 1994, he has collaborated with Gianluigi Trovesi and other great artists such as Kenny Wheeler, Paolo Fresu, Richard Bona, and Al Di Meola. For over ten years, he was a key member of the World Symphony quintet, standing out in prestigious projects like Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody, recorded with legendary jazz musicians such as Charlie Haden and Peter Erskine, and toured in major international festivals.
Respiro is the second album created together by Joe Pisto (guitar and voice) and Fausto Beccalossi (accordion and voice). Their first work, Interplay, released in 2018, marked the beginning of their collaboration, highlighting their ability to blend jazz, world music, and improvisation with great sensitivity. I conclude this brief analysis of this wonderful album by talking about Andalusia, the track that has most stayed in my heart and soul. Here, the fusion of Mediterranean and Spanish influences is central to the composition. The rhythm becomes more assertive, and the accordion, along with Beccalossi’s voice, crafts enveloping melodies that evoke images of hot, sunny landscapes typical of Andalusia. The track is a sonic tribute to the passion and energy of this region, always maintaining an elegance that never forsakes its vitality.
