Mac / Corlevich – Rain Or Shine (XO La Factory, 2024)
Ottimo album questo Rain Or Shine, esordio del duo veronese Cristiano Mecchi (voce) e Davide Corlevich (chitarra) in arte Mac / Corlevich dove il folk intimo e gentile ed il cantautorato sposano la roots music americana e ci accompagna in un viaggio interiore ed emozionale.
Il disco è uscito recentemente per l' etichetta di Taranto XO La Factory.
Corlevich, chitarrista classico con esperienze in band come Anteo e Galaverna, unisce la sua esplorazione di vari generi musicali alla vasta esperienza live e in studio. Mecchi, cantante e batterista, ha suonato in diverse band rock e underground italiane come neXus e Supergonzo, con numerosi concerti e registrazioni.
Il progetto combina le influenze folk e fingerstyle di Corlevich con il sound indipendente e anni '90 di Mecchi, creando una musica sincera e diretta, ispirata a panorami e viaggi on the road. Mac/Corlevich mescola elementi di folk, grunge ed un sound acustico americano in un'idea musicale molto personale.
I testi esplorano temi come l'incertezza del destino, scuotendo leggermente la coscienza e affrontando le difficoltà e lo scoraggiamento. Offrono una prospettiva di riscoperta della meraviglia e della bellezza del mistero di essere noi stessi, liberi da freni e da egoistiche precauzioni.
Un disco intimo ed artigianale composto da dieci tracce tutte scritte dal duo eccetto la cover di "Let Your Eyes Wander", un omaggio a Chris Cornell. I suoni caldi ed avvolgenti scorrono come l’acqua di una fonte di montagna, sfiorando delicatamente le corde, e si fondono armoniosamente.
Tra i brani spicca senz’altro l’opener “Machines”, uscita anche come singolo, che mostra fin da subito la cifra stilistica del duo.
Poi la tittle track “Rain Or Shine” che porta alla mente un altro duo, quello di Simon & Garfunkel… voce molto espressiva su di un tappeto di chitarre e piano.
“Let Your Eyes Wander” è, come scritto sopra, l’omaggio che i Nostri fanno a Chris Cornell con una bella versione che si integra perfettamente col resto dei brani composti dal duo.
A chiudere l’album “Adore The Sun”, song autunnale che vede un arrangiamento meno minimale per la presenza anche della sezione ritmica, sempre eseguita però in punta di dita.
Un’ottima e personale voce, belle chitarre e l’America come riferimento; questi sono gli ingredienti di questo ottimo esordio che propone un folk cantautorale di matrice roots ma allo stesso tempo molto attuale.
A tutti coloro che seguono il cantautorato e l’American music consiglio di ascoltare questo disco.

Rain Or Shine is an excellent album, marking the debut of the Veronese duo Cristiano Mecchi (vocals) and Davide Corlevich (guitar), known as Mac / Corlevich. The album features intimate and gentle folk, blending singer-songwriter influences with American roots music, taking listeners on an inner and emotional journey.
The album was recently released under the Taranto-based label XO La Factory.
Corlevich, a classical guitarist with experience in bands such as Anteo and Galaverna, combines his exploration of various musical genres with extensive live and studio experience. Mecchi, a singer and drummer, has played in several Italian rock and underground bands like neXus and Supergonzo, with numerous concerts and recordings to his name.
The project blends Corlevich's folk and fingerstyle influences with Mecchi's independent '90s sound, creating sincere and direct music inspired by landscapes and road trips. Mac/Corlevich mix elements of folk, grunge, and American acoustic sound into a very personal musical idea.

This intimate and handcrafted album consists of ten tracks, all written by the duo except for a cover of "Let Your Eyes Wander," a tribute to Chris Cornell. The warm and enveloping sounds flow like mountain spring water, gently touching the strings and harmoniously blending.
Among the standout tracks is certainly the opener "Machines," also released as a single, which immediately showcases the duo's stylistic identity.
The title track "Rain Or Shine" brings to mind another duo, Simon & Garfunkel, with a very expressive voice over a bed of guitars and piano.
"Let Your Eyes Wander," as mentioned earlier, is the duo's tribute to Chris Cornell, with a beautiful version that integrates perfectly with the rest of their original compositions.
The album closes with "Adore The Sun," an autumnal song with a less minimal arrangement due to the presence of a rhythmic section, still performed delicately.
A distinctive and personal voice, beautiful guitars, and America as a reference point; these are the ingredients of this excellent debut, offering a roots-influenced singer-songwriter folk that is still very contemporary.
